The international stochastics elite as guests in Bochum

Toronto, Istanbul, Singapore, Bochum: every four years they come together for the Stochastics World Congress. This year, the researchers met for the first time in Germany - at Ruhr-Universität Bochum.

Hundreds of guests from all over the world flock to the Auditorium maximum of Ruhr-Universität on 12 August 2024 for the opening ceremony of the World Congress of Stochastics. None other than Bochum stochastics professor Christof Külske sits at the large Klais organ and gets the international guests in the mood for the week of superlatives. 900 guests, 600 lectures, 170 sessions and over 100 posters make up the 11th edition of the world conference. This makes it the largest since it was first held in Tashkent in 1986.
