Lore-Agnes Graduation Scholarship (2026)
The Lore-Agnes Graduation Scholarship is intended to support up to two students during the period in which they are working on their thesis, and who may benefit from measures promoting inclusion, gender equality, and anti-discrimination.
The financial support is intended to create more freedom for intensive engagement with mathematics.
The scholarship is funded through the decentralized gender equality funds of the Faculty of Mathematics.
Funding period: ongoing, for the duration of the thesis

Who can apply?
Students of the Faculty of Mathematics at Ruhr University Bochum
- who are expected to complete their Master’s thesis or finish their studies within the next 6 months,
- as well as Bachelor’s students intending to pursue a Master’s degree
We especially encourage students with disabilities, women, and trans, intersex, and non-binary students to apply if they require financial support during the period of their thesis in order to create good conditions for successfully completing their degree. The funding is also intended for students struggling financially in a way that undermines their studies.
The funding period should be used for working on the thesis and planning the next career steps.
Which documents are required for the application?
- a short letter of motivation addressing the following questions: How could the funding support you, and what could you achieve with it?
- curriculum vitae in tabular form, maximum 1 page, including address, date of birth, student ID number, and email address
- current certificate of enrollment
- letter of recommendation from a university professor, maximum 1 page
How do the application process and funding work?
- students apply independently by submitting their application documents by email to the decentralized gender equality officers of the Faculty of Mathematics
- application deadline: May 24, 2026
- selection of scholarship recipients by the decentralized gender equality, inclusion and diversity officers
- funding begins on a rolling basis
- presentation of the scholarship recipients on the website of the Faculty of Mathematics
- final report by the scholarship recipients at the end of the funding period
