Mathematical Physics/ Stochastics

Research

Our research interest is the understanding of interacting stochastic systems on a mathematical level. One famous system of interest is the Ising model on the lattice describing the ferromagnetism in certain materials. What makes such interacting systems interesting is that they might show collective behavior and long range order. Of particular interest are disordered systems. Often their behavior is not even heuristically clear. Moreover they give rise to interesting conceptual probabilistic issues.
