Bachelor of Science Mathematics
The Bachelor of Science degree program in mathematics focuses on learning the fundamentals of mathematics and the effective use of the mathematical toolbox. In the first year of study, students are equipped with important mathematical calculation techniques as well as the ability to formulate mathematical statements and carry out initial proofs independently through the compulsory modules Analysis I/II, Linear Algebra I/II and Introduction to Programming. By choosing a minor, students can tailor their studies to their own interests in application areas of mathematics from the very beginning. A special feature of our faculty is that you can combine mathematics with the focus area in computer science. From the second year onwards, you can choose modules with an affinity to computer science and you can also write your final thesis in the field of computer science (more about computer science as a focus area) - the ideal combination for students with an affinity to computer science who are interested in understanding the mathematical basics. From the second year of study onwards, there are also versatile options for specialization within the subject of mathematics:
With the Bachelor of Science Mathematics, students acquire solid mathematical skills, such as analytical and problem-solving thinking, or modeling of processes in nature, technology and society. Graduates acquire an excellent basis for taking up a master's degree in mathematics or for starting a career in the industry.
