Prof. Dr. Dietrich Braess is awarded the Multi-Grid Prize

|   Aktuelle Meldungen

At school, students learn the Gaussian method for solving linear systems of equations. Since very large systems have to be dealt with in meteorology and other engineering problems, much faster methods, so-called multigrid methods, have been used for such systems.

A “Multi-Grid Prize” is awarded in loose succession to those involved in the development. Dietrich Braess was actually due to receive the prize this year on February 4 in Saudi Arabia. However, as he does not wish to travel to Saudi Arabia for health reasons, he will be presented with the certificate in April at the annual conference of the Society for Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (GAMM) in Poznań (Poland).
