Mr. Skirde received his doctorate in function theory in Göttingen in 1974 under Hans Grauert and then came to Bochum. From 1976 to 2008, he was a highly committed member of the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Mathematics. He worked together with a large number of deans, advised generations of students as a course advisor, taught engineering students with great enthusiasm and expanded the mathematics library with great energy.
