Cécile Gachet brings mathematics to life

The junior professor at Ruhr-Universität recently received two dissertation prizes in her native France.

A junior professor traveling to Aubière in France to receive a dissertation prize - that sounds unusual. Dr. Cécile Gachet is above all unusually fast, and excellent anyway. Otherwise, she would not have received the prestigious Blaise Pascal Mathematics Laboratory Prize (“Le prix de thèse du laboratoire de mathématiques Blaise Pascal”) on January 7, 2025. An international jury honored her dissertation “Positivity of the (co)tangent sheaf and of Chern classes”, which she wrote at the Université de Côte d'Azur in Nice. This is the second time that this work has been recognized: in 2024, Cécile Gachet received the dissertation prize of the Université Côte d'Azur.
