Mourning for Professor Karlheinz Spallek

On March 27, 2022, the long-standing member of our mathematics faculty passed away at the age of 88

Professor Dr. Karlheinz Spallek.

He habilitated in 1966 in Münster under Heinrich Behnke and was a professor at the Faculty of Mathematics at the Ruhr University in Bochum from 1971 until his retirement in 1999.

Karlheinz Spallek worked in the field of complex and real analysis and in mathematics education. He helped shape our faculty and university with great commitment. He was a passionate and highly successful researcher, teacher and author.

We will always remember his friendly, people-oriented nature and his enormous professional competence.

We express our condolences to the family on the immeasurable loss.

The funeral service will take place on 4. April 2022 at 10.30 a.m. in Stiepel Monastery, Am Varenholt 9, 44797 Bochum.
